Children’s Ministry

Since 1969, Living Bible Explorers has ministered to thousands of children in Winnipeg’s Inner City neighbourhoods. Many of the children who attend our programs are being raised in the midst of poverty and brokenness. Our desire is to see each child come to know the hope they can have in their saviour, Jesus Christ, and grow in their relationship with Him.

We run a number of year round programs that provide a safe environment where the Gospel is preached and relationships between children and Christian leaders are formed. Because the ministry is ongoing, our programs provide the opportunity for leaders to invest in the lives of the children over many months and years.

Programs include:

Rock Solid Kids

Each Saturday between September and June, we run a children’s program for kids in grade 1-4. Our buses go out to pick up the children from their homes in the morning, then they are brought to a school in the area for the program. The program includes games in the gym such as floor hockey, jump rope, large group games, crafts, etc.

Along with play time, we have a Bible teaching time that includes praise and worship, a Bible lesson, and opportunities for prayer. Once the program is finished, each child is dropped off at their home with a bag lunch.

Weekend Camps in Fall and Spring

Each fall and spring we have weekend camps where 150-200 children get out of the city environment to enjoy lots of outdoor activities, great food, Biblical teaching, and the care of dedicated camp counselors. These retreats provide opportunities to continue planting seeds and speaking Truth into the lives of the children. This time is important to their growing relationship with God and gets them excited for continued involvement in year round programs.

Home Visitation

Every week, staff members and volunteers visit the homes of the children that attend our programs. This provides a way to get to know the families of the children who are involved, and creates opportunities to minister to the needs to each family.
